The UN World Food Programme estimates that over 30 percent of children in Uganda are stunted from malnutrition.
A poor diet can have a profound effect on a child’s health, ability to learn, to communicate and to think analytically, while good nutrition is vital to those living with HIV/AIDS. Childhood hunger poses a serious obstacle to learning, with hungry children often unable to concentrate, regularly falling asleep at their desks and suffering from headaches and stomach pains.
At Sky is the Limit Children’s Centre in Fort Portal, Western Uganda, we provide orphaned and vulnerable children living with HIV/AIDS with a home and education in a safe, caring community.
With Ecologia’s support, the Sky is The Limit School, which also provides education to disadvantaged children from the local community, is now able to provide all 350 pupils with a hot, nutritious meal everyday. For many of the children attending the school, their parents simply don’t the have the means to feed them and the daily hot meal they receive at Sky’s school is often the only one they get. School meals also reduce absenteeism, by encouraging children to come to school.

Rose Mugenyi, the school’s Director, told us:
Thanks to the school meals funded by Ecologia, the children in the school are very happy, organised and now concentrate in class. The teachers are happy too because they see their pupils active in class and they notice great progress and academic improvement across the whole school.
Just £3 provides the raw ingredients for 1 child’s school meals for 4 months. Please help us to support the children at Sky Is The Limit School and donate here.
