Taking food sovereignty and sustainability to another level.
We’re excited to start our organic farm project at Sky Is The Limit next month, thanks to all of you who donated and the Guernsey OA&DC. The Overseas Aid & Development Commission distributes money provided by the States of Guernsey to charities undertaking development and humanitarian work in the world’s least developed countries. The project is another demonstration of our commitment to increasing sovereignty and sustainability for our partners’ projects.
This project will develop the organic farm at Sky Is The Limit in Fort Portal, Uganda, to provide daily, nutritious meals to 400 schoolchildren, aged 3-14 years, including 45 residential children living with HIV/AIDS or who have lost one or both parents to the disease and who need a safe, caring, home.
The farm will also offer practical training in organic agriculture to 10 workers, mostly young women, from the local communities and young graduates of Sky Is The Limit School, so that they can gain vital skills for employment, and provide for their families.
In the meantime, we will still be supporting the children with providing funds for school meals.
