The 15th of May marked a very special occasion for Ecologia Youth Trust: we had our first overseas volunteer since the international effects of COVID 19 lockdowns began!
We are so delighted to share with you that the wonderful Carlo from London spent a week with our Kenyan partner, International Peace Initiatives, in Meru two months ago and had a life changing experience.
While providing us with some feedback, Carlo marked all aspects of his trip down as “Excellent”, and we wanted to share with you some of what he had to say about his experience with the children and staff at International Peace Initiatives.
This experience definitely helped me to put things in perspective. I was surprised to see how generous and kind the people are, always happy to share what they have. I was also amazed to see how much all the people at IPI are aware of their past and willing to do something good of their life, trying to understand what is their potential and to develop it.”
Not only did Carlo learn a huge amount about the people of Kenya, but also got to experience the real culture of Kenya. One of the best parts about our volunteer programmes is that you get to take part in so much more than just the fantastic work that our projects are doing, but the huge amount of local activities that are on offer.
It’s been so fun to explore some of the beautiful places in the region with them, including a Safari at Samburu and a visit to the waterfalls.”
